Academic English students have multiple opportunities to register for the next term. Before you plan your vacation or buy any plane tickets, it is a good idea to speak with an Academic Support Advisor to learn what your options are.
You only need to go to Registration once, unless you receive an email asking you to come register again.
Early Registration is available to students who take care of their holds quickly. Be sure to check your holds regularly!

Priority Registration is available to all Academic English students. It takes place on Thursday of Week 11, and is usually in the afternoon.
Final Registration is the last day for Academic English students to register without a late fee.
Students in the Graduate Pathway program should work closely with their academic advisor to know which classes they will need to take each term. All students in the Graduate Pathway Program also have access to the Graduate Pathway Advising Information Canvas site which has detailed information about registration.
Undergraduate Pathway Students should work with their Academic Advisor to know which classes they will need to take each term. Academic Advisors are based off major, and can be reached via email. Undergraduate Pathway Students should contact their Academic Advisor to learn when they will register for each term.
If any student registers after the last day to register without a fee, they will be charged $250 from INTO OSU. There will be a separate fee applied by OSU of $50. The total fee for late registration is $300. This fee can be appealed.
If you want to change a level after the placement test, you can submit a level change request to your instructor in class during the first two days of class.

At the end of the term, if a student has less than 70% attendance, the student will be put on a standing. Students who receive a suspension due to attendance standing are not admissible to Oregon State University (including INTO Oregon State University Programs).
If a student has a standing and attends above 70% in all classes, the student's standing will improve one level.
AE Students may not repeat any Reading and Writing (R&W) or Listening and Speaking (L&S) course more than three (3) times. If an AE student does not pass an R&W or an L&S course after three (3) attempts, he/she will be academically suspended from his/her Program and will not be admissible to Oregon State University (including INTO Oregon State University Programs).
If a student passes the class after the second time taking the class, the student will be back on Good Standing.
Pathway, Study Abroad with English (SAWE) 2, and Visiting International Students (VISP) are subject to OSU's rules and regulations for Satisfactory Academic Standing.
Students must have an overall average of 73% or higher in Reading/Vocabulary (R/V), Listening/Speaking (L/S) and Writing/Grammar(W/G) to progress to the next level. For students in level 4, both Reading/Vocabulary and Writing/Grammar classes must be passed before progressing to level 5 Reading/Writing.

Electives are not considered in level to level progression.
Students cannot move to the next level with a TOEFL or IELTS score.
Currently enrolled students in IE, AE, SAWE, or VISP programs who are planning to enter a PW, UTP, IYO, Transitional Admission Program (TAP), or OSU degree-seeking program must also meet the following requirements to progress:
Note: This includes students who meet the language proficiency requirement based on a qualifying test score.
Students who are denied admission based on fulfillment of the language proficiency requirement, may appeal the decision if the student is in good attendance standing. The petition will be reviewed by committee to determine whether the language proficiency requirement has been fulfilled. The committee will consider a variety of factors including, but not limited to, academic performance, language level in Center, and ability for the student to be successful in the desired program.
The appeal process will be outlined in the email/letter informing the student of the denial and will conform to other appeal processes in the Center.
All programs must:
Pass all classes in the term before your Pathway program, including elective classes
Achieve at least 70% attendance in all classes

A clinic is a convenient way for students to gather all the signatures they need to apply for a vacation term, or to fill out their departure forms. Both forms require several signatures. At a clinic, all the departments a student will require a signature from will be present in the same place.
Students can find out when a vacation term clinic will be held by sending an email to INTOAcademicSupport@oregonstate.edu, visiting a walk-in appointment, or simply checking their email near the end of the term. Clinics are typically held in week 9 or 10 of the academic term.
Appeals are a way for students to explain why they cannot meet the requirements of an INTO OSU policy. Filling out an appeal form does not guarantee that an exception will be made.
Students may choose to fill out an appeal form for late registration. They will need to do so if they need to register after the last day to register. The late registration fee may also be appealed. Students should contact INTOAcademicSupport@oregonstate.edu if they believe they will need to register late.
Students will receive an email on Thursday of week 11 to tell them if they have met the requirements to progress to their Pathway Program. If they do not progress to their Pathway Program, they will receive instructions about how to appeal the decision. Students should read this email carefully and reply to it if they have any questions.
Students progressing to OSU should work with their progression advisor, Bobbi Becker (Undergraduate) or Emily Dunn (Graduate) if they have any questions about their progression.
Students may appeal their significant assignments and assessments. The process begins by meeting with the instructor for an assignment review. Instructors can give grade appeal forms to students upon request. Grade appeals must be made within 5 days of receiving a grade for the respective assignment or assessment.
Students will be sent an email at the end of the term informing them if they have been suspended. If students are sent this email, they will also receive instructions about how to appeal the decision. Students should read this email carefully and reply to it if they have any questions.
Upon arrival, you will take a 50-minute computer-based language test. You will also provide a handwritten writing sample. These tests are used to determine what class is the best fit for students in their first term at INTO OSU. The test can only be taken once.
When you register for your classes, the number next to your class title will tell you what level you are in. For example, if your class is Academic Listening/Speaking 4, you are in level 4! You may have classes in different levels.
Oregon State University and INTO OSU are closed for several holidays throughout the year. The Office of Human Resources provides a full holiday schedule for OSU.
INTO OSU Academic English students wishing to return to their program may be considered for re-admission after a period no less than 2 years from date of suspension.
INTO OSU Graduate Pathway students placed on suspension due to academic standing are typically not eligible to return to any OSU program, although students in this status should meet with their Graduate Pathway advisor to determine what options may be available.
INTO OSU Undergraduate Pathway students placed on suspension due to academic or attendance standing may only return to OSU by meeting the Transfer Admission Requirements for Returning Undergraduate Pathway Students listed below. Meeting these requirements allows the student to enter a degree-seeking program.
Transfer Admission Requirements for Returning Undergraduate Pathway Students:
Consideration for admission as a transfer student will be based only upon credit earned after the term of suspension. If admitted, any academic credits earned during the Pathway program will be transferred to the OSU student transcript by the end of the first term of attendance.”
